Paradise Found

Kate at Reading Through Infinity is organizing an Easter readathon and since I've got my weekend free (which when the world is normal barely happens), I'll join in the fun.

I'll choose only 2 books as my TBR since I'm a slow and fitful reader (and window cleaning is on the task list this weekend too ugh). Both will match one of the prompts Kate has suggested:

My Family and Other Animals

by Gerald Durrell

Synopsis:

When the unconventional Durrell family can no longer endure the damp, gray English climate, they do what any sensible family would do: sell their house and relocate to the sunny Greek isle of Corfu. My Family and Other Animals was intended to embrace the natural history of the island but ended up as a delightful account of Durrell's family's experiences, from the many eccentric hangers-on to the ceaseless procession of puppies, toads, scorpions, geckoes, ladybugs, glowworms, octopuses, bats, and butterflies into their home.

I always long to travel and now that it's not possible, even more so. This book will transport me to Greece at least in mind.

The Midwich Cuckoos

by John Wyndham

Synopsis:

In the sleepy English village of Midwich, a mysterious silver object appears and all the inhabitants fall unconscious. A day later the object is gone and everyone awakens unharmed - except that all the women in the village are discovered to be pregnant.

The resultant children of Midwich do not belong to their parents: all are blond, all are golden-eyed. They grow up too fast and their minds exhibit frightening abilities that give them control over others. This brings them into conflict with the villagers just as a chilling realization dawns on the world outside...

A modern classic sci-fi, simply because I haven't read sci-fi for months.

Hello Lovelies! 

Another hard month is behind us in this surreal world we're currently living in. I hope you're all holding up okay and staying safe.

I don't have work at the moment, since air traffic is basically non-existent during the virus and thus I was put on standby for a month. To be honest I'm not sure if the situation will be better in May, but I'm hoping for a miracle.

I'm trying to do my best with the big amount of spare time I suddenly have on my hands. Of course I'm reading a lot, doing a puzzle and working on my diamond painting I started months ago but never had time to finish. From time to time I go out to play frisbee with my younger brothers or we just have a walk.

Bad news that I still didn't manage to conceive (we've been trying for 10 months now and it's worse and worse to face the failure at the end of each month). But May is a blank page and therefore a new possibility. Fingers crossed.

Good news that we'll be cat parents soon!!! My colleague's cat has had kittens recently and we'll adopt one in the beginning of June. I'm very excited for the new member of the family. I've never had a kitty, according to my mum she'll be spoiled. Tell me if you have any good name ideas for a girl cat!

February went by very fast, and here we are in the spring. Well, Europe is mostly under snow at the moment but never mind, just keep sliding on.


February was a very good blogging month for me and I'm proud of myself for devoting a lot of time to Paradise Found in the past few weeks. I'd like to keep it up because I enjoy writing my blog posts and – above all  – reading, so I can write them, haha.
